How much does a catered event cost?
We wish we had an easy answer to this one, but there’s no “one cost fits all” when it comes to Big Tree Catering. We customize each and every one of our events to fit the needs, budget, and vision of our clients, and cost is dependent on the type of menu and service that’s right for you.

Do you provide service staff for your events?
Yes, absolutely. The amount of staff will vary based on whether you’re having a family style or stationary meal, and all labor is paid for by the client, but we will work with you to ensure your event is sufficiently staffed. Hospitality is a priority for us, and that means making sure you feel well taken care of by our team.

What does Big Tree not do?
We don’t handle decorations, florals, lighting, music, photography, venue logistics, or scheduling beyond what pertains to food & beverage service. We will be focusing on the food, and creating the best dining experience we can for your event. We’d be happy to recommend vendors if you’re still searching.

Do you provide beer, wine and liquor services?
We sure do, if your event is in Vacationland. For events outside the state of Maine we can discuss whether or not we’ll be able to provide bar services once we’ve reviewed the state’s liquor laws. Let us know if you’d like to see our bar pricing.

What’s included in set-up and breakdown?
Once we know more about your specific event we’ll be able to provide you with a set-up and breakdown strategy. Your set-up and breakdown needs will depend on the venue, floor plan, service type and how much heavy lifting you want to do yourselves. No matter what, we’ll be able to work out a plan together. Usually that plans involves us arriving a few hours early to get cookin’ and set up, then handling breakdown when the meal is over.

Does Big Tree Provide Rentals?
We don’t provide rentals, but we’ll work closely with you and your planner to make sure all serving pieces are accounted for. Also, please keep in mind that clients are responsible for renting any kitchen equipment necessary to execute the meal you’ve chosen. Don’t worry, we’ll be able to walk you through all those details when the time comes!

Our menu sounds perfect, but several of our guests are vegetarians or need gluten-free options… what do I do?
No problem! We will be able to accommodate your guests, no matter their diet, and though advance notice is not required, we are always glad to have it whenever possible.

Do you offer kids’ meals?
We love kids and are happy to provide options.

Do you offer options for allergies or dietary restrictions?
Some of our nearest and dearest have dietary restrictions, so we take them very seriously, and are well versed in handling them in the kitchen. We are able to create alternative options for guests with allergies/restrictions, we just ask that you let us know as far in advance as possible.

How far do you travel?
TBD! We’re open to discussing any event, but whether we can make it work depends on a lot of factors, including travel expenses, which are paid for by the client. Are you planning a cool out of state event and think we need to be a part of it? Get in touch!
